Light falling in from all sides. Old wooden beams. Tendrils growing along the glass, indifferent to all that is at stake today.
You have only just arrived. And yet it’s already right.
Why Flevoland surprises as a wedding venue
The prejudice is fair: Flevoland is flat, open, modern. A province that exists by the grace of human hands and water works. Not the first thing that comes to mind when you dream of a wedding in nature.
But then you drive onto the grounds.
What was open becomes hidden. What seemed new has gained character. The trees here are young by human standards, but they are already standing firm. Pioneers that grew into monuments. Birds that are nowhere in the Netherlands so numerous. A landscape that is not old but feels that way because nature has taken its own course.
Flevoland does not surprise in spite of itself. It surprises because you didn’t expect it.
And then there’s the Leaning Lime Tree. Voted the most beautiful tree in Flevoland in 2019. It just stands there, at the edge of the grounds, with a swing under its branches. No sign. No podium. Just a tree that knows what it is. That’s the image that stays with you, long after the day itself.

The locations: each with its own feel
The Greenhouse is an antique Belgian grape greenhouse. Glass and wooden beams, tendrils growing along the structure, daylight pouring in from all sides. Photogenic without having anything done to it. It is a space that does not impose itself and, precisely because of that, draws everything to itself. → [yugenforest.com/locations/greenhouse]
The Forest Room is hidden among the trees. Above you the leaves, beside you the fire pits, in front of you an open field of over a thousand square meters that is ideally suited for an outdoor wedding ceremony. Dine at long tables in the beech avenue as evening slowly sets in. This is the place for those who want to make the day last.

Ceremony fields in greenery: those who want to get married outdoors have a choice. Adjacent to the Forest Room is a 1,200-square-foot open field overlooking the orchard – a quiet, spacious spot that automatically draws attention to what’s in the middle of it. Further into the grounds: the Leaning Lime Tree. Flevoland’s most beautiful tree, with a swing under its branches and the buzzing of bees in the air. A place that does something to people long before the music begins. And for those seeking the seclusion of the forest: a ceremony is also possible among the trees. The landscape chooses with you.
Yūgen Forest is a nature preserve on Roggebotstaete Estate in Dronten, Flevoland. A wedding venue with four special spaces, including the antique Greenhouse, the Forest Room in the forest and the Leaning Linde, Flevoland’s most beautiful tree, in the middle of 52 acres of young, regenerative nature preserve. Weddings are conducted through A la Noah, exclusive wedding partner of Yūgen Forest .

What a wedding day at Yūgen Forest looks like
The day begins outside. Arriving at a site that is already ready, without looking like it. Nature does the work.
The ceremony often takes place in the open field in front of the Forest Room, or among the trees or under the Leaning Linden. No stage, no theatrical decor. Well: light falling through the leaves, the smell of the earth, faces in the front row that you’ve known for years.
Next: food. Honest food, homegrown, prepared by Yūgen Forest’s chefs. From the market garden to the table, at long set tables in the greenery. No wholesale catering, no standard menu. Own catering or self-cooking is not possible, nor is it necessary.
The evening does not end abruptly. An acoustic band playing as it gets dark, or great dancing with a silent disco. Drinks and blankets around the campfire by the pizza oven. Amplified music doesn’t suit this place and the atmosphere created here, and that’s not a limitation but a choice. It suits the kind of couple who get married here.
Those who want to, stay overnight. In the cabins at the edge of the nature reserve, in a glamping tent among the fruit trees, or in the tiny house. The next morning: a communal breakfast, and memories of a day that was exactly as it should have been.
