Light falling in from all sides. Old wooden beams. Vines growing along the glass, indifferent to everything at stake today.
You’ve only just arrived. And yet, it already feels right.
Why Flevoland surprises as a wedding venue
The prejudice is fair: Flevoland is flat, open, modern. A province that exists by the grace of human hands and waterworks. Not the first thing you imagine when dreaming of a wedding in nature.
But then you drive onto the grounds.
What was open becomes hidden. What seemed new has gained character. The trees here are young by human standards, but they already stand firm. Pioneers that grew into monuments. Birds that are nowhere in the Netherlands so numerous. A landscape that isn’t old but feels that way, because nature has been allowed to go its own way.
Flevoland doesn’t surprise despite itself. It surprises because you didn’t expect it.
And then there is the Crooked Lime Tree. Voted the most beautiful tree in Flevoland in 2019. It just stands there, at the edge of the grounds, with a swing under its branches. No sign. No stage. Just a tree that knows what it is. That’s the image that stays with you, long after the day itself.

The locations: each with its own feeling
The Greenhouse is an antique Belgian grape greenhouse. Glass and wooden beams, vines growing along the structure, daylight falling in from all sides. Photogenic without anything having been done to it. It’s a space that doesn’t impose itself and, for that very reason, draws everything toward it. → [yugenforest.nl/locaties/greenhouse]
The Forest Room is hidden among the trees. Above you the leaves, beside you the fire pits, in front of you an open field of over a thousand square meters that is perfectly suited for an outdoor wedding ceremony. Dining at long tables in the beech avenue, as evening slowly falls. This is the place for those who want the day to last.

Ceremony fields in the green: those who want to marry outdoors have a choice. Adjacent to the Forest Room is an open field of 1,200 m² with a view of the orchard — a quiet, spacious spot that naturally draws attention to what stands in the middle. Further onto the grounds: the Crooked Lime Tree. The most beautiful tree in Flevoland, with a swing under its branches and the hum of bees in the air. A place that does something to people long before the music starts. And for those seeking the seclusion of the forest: a ceremony is also possible among the trees. The landscape helps choose.
Yūgen Forest is an event and retreat location in a regenerative nature reserve in Dronten, Flevoland. A wedding venue on a unique estate with four special spaces, including the antique Greenhouse, the Forest Room in the woods, and the Crooked Lime Tree, the most beautiful tree in Flevoland.

What a wedding day at Yūgen Forest looks like
The day begins outdoors. Arrival at a site that is already prepared, without looking like it. Nature does the work.
The ceremony often takes place on the open field in front of the Forest Room, or among the trees, or under the Crooked Lime Tree. No stage, no theater set. Instead: light falling through the leaves, the scent of the earth, faces in the front row that you’ve known for years.
Afterwards: food. Honest food, homegrown, prepared by the chefs of Yūgen Forest. From the garden to the table, at long set tables in the greenery. No wholesale catering, no standard menu. Providing your own catering or cooking yourself is not possible, and it doesn’t need to be.
The evening doesn’t end abruptly. An acoustic band playing as it gets dark, or wonderful dancing with a silent disco. Drinks and blankets around the campfire by the pizza oven. Amplified music doesn’t suit this place and the atmosphere that arises here, and that isn’t a limitation but a choice. It suits the kind of couple that marries here.
Those who wish can stay the night. In the cabins at the edge of the nature reserve, in a glamping tent among the fruit trees, or in the tiny house.
For intimate weddings or a dinner day after the ceremony, Slot Roggebot is also available, the warm heart of the estate.
The place feels right
Some locations are beautiful. Others feel right. You only notice the difference when you’re there, in the first few minutes, when the day is yet to begin and it already feels good.
